Locked out of your email? This could mean any number of things. It’s hard to narrow it down to just one, or even a few causes, but some of the most common include the following:
If you’re using your email to send spam, then you may be locked out. You yourself might be doing so, but if you manage to get back into your account, it could be worth looking at sent messages to ensure that you haven’t been hacked.
If your Gmail is tied to your Hotmail account, for instance, and your Hotmail account gets caught sending spam or is otherwise compromised, then you may see both accounts being locked down.
Password attempts could come from any number of sources, from having a hard time remembering your password and being locked out after too many attempts, to malware attempting to log into your email account, or a third party trying to guess your password in order to spy on you.
If you feel that your account may have been hacked, or your computer is at risk, it is recommended that you immediately change your password. If you’re still concerned, please contact us for a free diagnosis. One of our diagnostic experts can quickly check your system to ensure there is no malicious spyware, malware, or other infections on your device.
These are just some of the more common reasons that your account may be locked. Remember to never give out your personal account information over an email, or to people you do not trust.
